Dr Leona Yip is passionate about skin health advocacy, dermatology mentoring and education. As an Advocate for The Australasian College of Dermatologists, she frequently interacts with stakeholders including healthcare professionals, patient support groups, skin health organisations and various media outlets to improve skin health literacy.
Her widely recognised expertise is harnessed by various international and Australian advisory committees and expert groups, including the Dermatology Expert Group that formulates Dermatology Therapeutic Guidelines in Australia.
Her PhD thesis on female pattern hair loss was nominated for the Chancellor’s Prize, and her research went on to win multiple international and Australian dermatology research awards and grants. Dr Yip’s achievements in the particular field of alopecia (scalp and hair loss disorders) have earned her extensive recognition amongst Australian and international industry peers as a “go-to” expert.
